Meeting After School 9/2
Wednesday, September 2, we will meet after school in Coach Adams’s classroom (1630) to discuss fallball, the fall picnic, indoor lacrosse, weight training, offseason practices, clothing/equipment orders for this year, and ideas for next summer. Money for fallball and indoor is due at the PICNIC. Checks should be made out to Big-E.
Please arrive promptly after school so that we can conduct our business quickly and finish by 3:15 p.m.
If you cannot attend the meeting because of fall sports, you must come see Coach Adams on Tuesday or Wednesday to get information and answer a couple quick questions. You may not send someone else, come yourself.
Meeting notes
The fall picnic is Sunday, September 13, 5:30 p.m. at the Greider’s home on Milton Grove Road. This picnic is for players and parents. Other than getting together, hangning out, and eating dinner, it is a chance for the parents to meet each other and for all of us to learn about the different activities this year.
Money for fallball and indoor lacrosse is due at the picnic. The fall league will be a 7v7 league hosted by Rheems AA on Sunday afternoons from Sept. 27 through Nov. 8. If you wish to play it will cost $30. If you are not participating in a fall sport you are needed at practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays (check the schedule – it alternates with lifting). If you wish to help run the league, by keeping score, running the clock, and taking care of game balls, you may apply your $30 to your indoor lacrosse costs.
For indoor lacrosse, we will be entering two teams at In the Net. The league is on Saturdays from November through January. The cost is $110 per student. If you know you will be participating in fall and winter lacrosse, and helping run fall lacrosse just turn in $110.
Each student needs a reversible jersey for fall and winter. If you have not purchased yours yet, please let me know. It will cost you $15. New 9th graders might need to wear their GEARS jerseys for the fall, but we should be able to get reversibles for you by the winter.
In other clothing order matters, any input you have about which shorts you’d like to see on our order form or if you are interested in purchasing a jacket this year, please tell Coach Adams a.s.ap.

Fall Lacrosse/Training Opportunities
Fall Ball 7v7 League
Etown Lacrosse and Rheems Athletic Association will be hosting a 7v7 Fall Ball league for high school and middle school lacrosse players. Etown will be entering a team in each of the three brackets – high school A, high school B, and middle school. Teams from other Central PA schools will be joining us in this league. Games will take place on Sunday afternoons.
A waiver and $30 per player is due by Sept. 13 (team picnic) in order to participate. Students who help run the clocks and keep score at other games will get their fall ball league fees applied to their indoor league fees.
Fall Practices/Strength Training
Tuesdays and Thursdays this fall will be laxdays in Etown. All lacrosse students who are not participating in fall sports are encouraged to attend Tuesday and Thursday workouts. There will be one open field per week, running 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Field 3 (behind the wall) at East High Elementary. The other day will be strength training (after school until 4:30), including group workout activities and individual time for weights. We would like to offer three days each week, but at this time two is what’s available. That said, a couple weeks in October, field availability on Monday or Wednesday puts our outdoor session on those days instead.
Check the calendar page, specifically the google calendar, for dates of these activities.
Meltdown/US Lacrosse Clinics
Coach Chris Snyder, formerly of Penn Manor, is offering a clinic series this fall through US Lacrosse and Meltdown. Coach Adams is proud that he and 12 Etown Bears participated in Meltdown this summer and endorses the program as a postive-minded player-development-focused lacrosse venue. Unfortunately, some of the events this fall coincide with our Fall 7v7 League, but some do not, and they’re worth a look. Check out http://meltdownlacrosse.com/?page_id=102 for more information.
09-10 Program Finances Meeting
Parents and students who are interested in contributing ideas to how our program will raise and spend funds this school year are encouraged to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 27, in room 1630 at the high school.
To find 1630 from the main entrance of the school, walk straight through the main lobby and central corridor to the bus lobby. Turn left in the bus lobby into a corridor, walk past another hallway on the left. 1630 is the first door on the left after you walk past the hallway.
Fair Parking
EDIT: THANKS to the helpful volunteer parents and students who joined the Greiders and the coaches for fair parking. It was a successful fund raiser.
Our program is signed up to staff the Etown Fair parking lot on Monday, August 24, from 6:30-10 p.m..
Cindy and Ken Greider, our program’s booster club representatives, are coordinating the parking, which is an important fund raiser that brings in hundreds of dollars to our program. Please contact the Greiders to volunteer to help.
You can e-mail them at cgreider [at symbol] comcast [dot] net.
