Etownlax Update 11/25

Happy Thanksgiving to the Elizabethtown Lacrosse family from your coaches. We are thankful for the opportunity to coach in this program with the best kids of Elizabethtown. Remember that the Native Americans who introduced lacrosse believed they were giving thanks and honoring their creator by playing the game with class, intelligence, and toughness … we’re proud that we continue to play the game the right way here in Etown.

Also remember that your TURKEY sub (and other sandwich) orders are due at your indoor lacrosse games this weekend. Look for Cindy and Ken Greider at In the Net Saturday and Amy and Kevin Engle at Lanco Fieldhouse Sunday to turn in your forms and monies. The incentive for sales (other than supporting Big E and our lacrosse program, of course) is that each 10 subs you sell enters your name in a drawing for $30 off our next team clothing order. If we sell 200 subs, an additional $30 prize will be added to the drawing.

The new LaxWorld store in the York Galleria Mall is offering 40% off of backyard goals and lax wall rebounders through Sunday, November 29. These make great Christmas gifts for lax players, along with a bucket of lacrosse balls.

In the Net laxers, Coach Adams will not be at the game Saturday. If you are not going to be at the game, e-mail Coach Heisey at flounder0053 AT comcast DOT net.

Sub sale forms and money are due at the indoor lacrosse games this weekend, or else they will not be submitted to Boosters in time for the order. Click here to download a new form if you lost yours.

In the Net players can give their orders to Cindy Greider at Saturday’s game. Lanco players should give their orders to the Engles at Sunday’s game

Proceeds to go the Booster Club to pay for varsity jackets and awards. The lacrosse program also gets some of the proceeds.

Varsity Indoor SCHEDULE CHANGED 11/13

Due to an attempt by In the Net to have “a more competetive league that will benefit all teams,” the schedule for our league has been altered. The schedule for the first five games is as follows.

The schedule for the last five games of the season will be created mid-way through the season. Click here to see the schedule at In the Net’s website.

Indoor Lacrosse Update 11/10

JV indoor is underway at Lanco and varsity begins this Saturday at In the Net. Schedules are available at http://etownlax.com/?page_id=15. Remember that you must notify your coach by e-mail if you are going to be late or absent for a game. You are expected to arrive 30 minutes before the start of a game for stretching and pregame organizing. Failure to communicate absence or lateness will result in missed playing time.

In the Net participants are reminded that if you did not attend Sunday’s practice, you are responsible for learning the material we covered before playing in a game. You may choose to learn it by seeing Coach Adams for a few minutes after school or by sitting out and watching the first half of your first game.

Indoor practice times from now until the start of the season have been posted on the google calendar on the etownlax.com schedule page. Any changes or cancellations to these times will be posted on the website and sent out by e-mail to subscribers.

Last announcement: we will participate in the Big E winter sub sale fund raiser, beginning Nov. 20. Sub forms will be available on or before 11/20 at Coach Adams’s classroom or at indoor lacrosse games. There will be prizes for those who sell subs. Proceeds are shared between our program and Big E, so it’s important that we sell well. This effort will help our team afford shooting shirts and help Big E afford varsity jackets.

Helmet Order Due Mon. 11/9

We have an opportunity to order Cascade Pro7 helmets (Pro7 info) for just $136 apiece. Individuals who wish to order must bring a check for $136 to Coach Adams by Monday, 11/9. The helmets would be royal blue all over with a black cage (as matches the school’s helmets).

The athletic department is reviewing its lacrosse helmet policy; individuals will be allowed to wear their own helmets, as long as they have been NOCSAE recertified each year (and follow all PIAA requirements of matching the team helmets). More to come on this new policy, but for now individuals who are considering purchasing their own new helmet are encouraged to take advantage of this great deal.

Orders will not be accepted after 11/9, and there must be at least six helmets ordered in order to get this deal.

Indoor Lacrosse Update 11/3

The latest on JV @ Lanco

Lanco has posted the schedule. Click here to check it out. The game times have also been added to the google calendar on the schedule page of etownlax.com.

The first game is 9 p.m. Saturday, 11/7. Please arrive and meet up with your coaches by 8 p.m. Coach Heisey will be running the JV team, with help from Coach Mueller, Coach Shissler, Coach Labaugh, and Coach Adams.

If you have not yet done so, make sure you complete the waiver for Lanco and bring it to Coach Adams before Saturday. Also, you must have paid Coach Adams in order to play. If you have not paid, you will not be allowed to play.

JV will have practices from 6-8 p.m. in Daubert Gym on Thursdays 11/12 and 11/19. Please arrive in the Daubert Gym Lobby by 5:45 p.m. so that you are suited up and ready to begin right at 6 p.m.

The Latest on Varsity at In the Net

Our first game will be on 11/14. There is no schedule posted yet on In the Net’s website. If you have not yet done so, complete the online sign-up for In the Net. The link is posted in the previous indoor lacrosse information posts.

Varsity will practice Sunday, 11/8 at the Rheems fields (behind Rheems Elementary School) from noon-2p.m. This is our only full-field practice before we hit the indoor field for the long indoor season. Please make arrangements to attend. Anyone who misses this practice must watch half a game of league play before they will be allowed to play. The purpose of this practice is to review team systems and communication before we begin the indoor season.

Varsity practices are also scheduled from 7-9 p.m. in Daubert Gym on Thursdays 11/12 and 11/19. Please arrive in the Daubert Gym Lobby by 6:45 p.m. so that you are suited up and ready to begin right at 7 p.m.
