Lacrosse Update 2/23
Just a few items and reminders, as we’re under two weeks until tryouts.
“Boot camp” preseason preparation practices are Wednesday 2/24 3-5 p.m., Wednesday 3/3 3-5 p.m., and Friday 3/5 5-7 p.m. All students who are planning to tryout for the school lacrosse program this spring are invited to attend. These sessions will focus on improving fundamental skills and raising fitness level so that tryouts are not a shock!
Lanco scrimmage … because of our snow cancellations at Lanco Fieldhouse this winter, Lanco Fieldhouse gave us field time from 3:30-5 p.m. on Monday, March 1. Any freshmen, sophomores, or juniors who would like scrimmage against Penn Manor a bit at Lanco that day should contact Coach Adams by Friday 2/26 to sign up. We will NOT be playing in the make-up game scheduled for 3/10 by Lanco Fieldhouse. It is not in the best interest of the kids or the program for our kids to practice all afternoon and then play a Lanco game that night.
Equipment distribution is Thursday 3/4 from 2:40-4 p.m. This is mandatory. All students must be there to receive their helmets, whether they are borrowing from the program or getting theirs back from certification.
Face off Classic tickets have arrived. Coach Adams will hand them out in his classroom. Come get the tickets you ordered. Stadium and parking information is available on http://www.faceoffclassic.com/, and there are garages and parking lots around the inner harbor that will be happy to have your business at a cost of $10-20 for the day.
Paperwork should all be turned in by now. Please turn yours in if you have not already. YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IF YOU HAVE NOT SATISFIED THE EASD OR THE ETOWN LACROSSE PAPERWORK REQUIREMENTS.
Contact Coach Adams with any questions.
Practice Change and Reminders 2/10
Practice Change for Friday
The recent winter weather has caused some changes in the facility schedule at the high school this week. Our Friday practice has been changed to just the Old Gym from 7-9 p.m. Since we have just one gym, and it’s the smaller gym, this practice is only for the In the Net indoor lacrosse group.
We still have four more indoor practice opportunities before the start of tryouts on March 8. These are 2/17, 2/24, 3/3, and 3/5. Please see the schedule page for times. These remaining practices are open to all students interested in tuning up their game before tryouts.
Reminders
Please also mark the after-school time on Thursday 3/4 on your schedules. That will be the mandatory equipment/helmet handout. The helmets that were sent out for certification should be back by then, and that is when they will be distributed to students.
Saturday, March 6 is the Face Off classic. If you are interested in purchasing tickets, check out the info on http://etownlax.com/?p=284 and get your money to Coach Adams or Taylor Good by this Saturday, 1/13.
Lanco Fieldhouse has not announced plans for make-up games yet, as they are under the same constant wintry assault that has caused schedule changes for everyone. More to come on this in future updates.
Don’t forget about the mandatory paperwork items that each student must complete in order to participate this spring. This includes the rules signature sheet. Many students have still not turned them in. If you have concerns, please contact Coach Adams. Otherwise, please get your paperwork in a.s.a.p. See http://etownlax.com/?p=266 for the eligibility checklist.
Lanco Lacrosse Updates on Lanco Website
Students on our Lanco Fieldhouse lacrosse team should keep an eye on http://www.lancofieldhouse.com for updates to the lacrosse schedule. As of 8 a.m. Saturday morning, it seems extremely doubtful that the games this evening will be held.
Stay safe and warm, and remember there’s indoor open gym practice 6-8 p.m. Friday. We have both gyms booked and four coaches, so it’s a great opportunity for all students to improve their skills and have some lacrosse fun.
Also, since you’re snowed in, consider how nice it will be in exactly one month to be watching Division I lacrosse at M&T Bank Sadium. Check out http://etownlax.com/?p=284 for details about our Face Off Classic ticket order.
Face Off Classic Tickets Due 2/13
For the third straight year Etown Lacrosse will be purchasing a group ticket order for the Face Off Classic. The order is open to students, parents, and friends of lacrosse in Elizabethtown.
This year, the Face Off Classic has added a third game, so the discounted ticket price of $15 includes admission to three games between top NCAA Div. I teams on March 6th at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The match-ups this year are as follows.
- DUKE beating Maryland, 11 a.m.
- Princeton vs. Hopkins, 1:30 p.m.
- Notre Dame vs. Loyola, 4 p.m.
To purchase tickets, submit your money to Taylor Good or Coach Adams by Saturday, February 13. There is an open-gym practice the night before, and an In the Net game 2/13. We will order only however many tickets are paid for, no extras.
PARENTS – Your sons are not the responsibility of the coaches in transit or at this game. Transportation and supervision is the responsibility of the parents and students. We would like great participation in this awesome event, so please work out rides and supervision with other students’ parents if you cannot bring your son.
Clothing Order Update 2/3
There are a few situations that have come up in the process of fulfilling our clothing order. Some of them require action, others do not. If you have concerns about any of them, please contact Coach Adams a.s.a.p.
These issues all center on Under Armour. The company is very popular and does not keep a lot of its items in stock for very long. As a result, our sweatshirts, sweatpants, royal blue longsleeve t-shirts, and liner gloves that we were hoping to order are all on backorder. If you ordered any or all of these items, please read the steps we are taking and that you may take, below.
Hooded Sweatshirts
The UA sweatshirts are on backorder until April. We’ve moved on to Nike. The Nike sweatshirts will still be tech fleece (no cotton), so they’ll still keep us warm when it’s a little damp outside. These have been ordered and should be ready around the start of tryouts.
Sweatpants
The UA sweatpants are also on backorder until April. We looked into every option, from Champion, to Russell, to Charles River and Holloway, to try to find another tech fleece (no cotton) option. We were not able to find a similar pant that had pockets and open legs, so we again went with Nike sweatpants. They will by 80% cotton, 20% polyester, but at least they’re a top brand and we’re getting our money’s worth. These have been ordered and should be ready around the start of tryouts.
Royal UA Longsleeve Ts
Adult large royal blue longsleeve t-shirts are on backorder until April, as well. If you would like to change to a medium or XL, please contact Coach Adams by Friday 2/5. Otherwise, your longsleeve T will not be delivered with the other items in the order.
UA Liner Gloves
These are also on backorder, until the end of March. If you would like to cancel your order, let Coach Adams know by Friday 2/5. Otherwise, they will be delivered when they arrive.
