Parent Tailgate and Carpool Info
Cindy Greider and Shannon Heisey are trying to arrange a car pool for the parents that are heading out to the game on Tuesday. Call them if you are interested in car pooling and if you have a minivan or other large multi passenger vehicle.
Also, they are planning a tailgate dinner for before the game. They were thinking each parent bring their own sandwiches/hoagies and drinks and also a side dish to share. Contact Shannon with other questions.
State Tournament Update 5/28
You read that right … STATE TOURNAMENT UPDATE!!!!
Etown will be traveling to either Franklin Regional or Hampton Township to play either Franklin Regional or Sewickley Academy at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Franklin and Sewickley play tonight in the WPIAL championship. We’ll play the second place team. The bus time Tuesday will be 12:30 p.m.
Due to the long bus rides to and from our state tournament first round game on Tuesday, June 1, lacrosse students will miss some school on Tuesday afternoon and return very late Tuesday night from the game. The school administration will accommodate seniors who will be either missing final times or returning home very late the night before Wednesday final exams. As of this moment (2 p.m. Friday) we cannot say exactly what these accommodations will be. More information will be available very soon.
JV students who have not been practicing and dressing for the playoffs are encouraged to join the team on the trip to states. All students are reminded that team colors (only) must be worn on the trip and on the sidelines. All students are asked to wear their shooting shirts to school on Tuesday, regardless of whether or not they are planning on attending the trip. Coach Adams must know before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday whether or not each JV student is planning on attending.
We need help! A meal on the ride home will be provided, but we need lunch for the trip out to the game and snacks for the ride. Parents, if you are interested in and available to help coordinate and/or provide these items for the trip, please e-mail or call Coach Adams a.s.a.p. to discuss this.

Eight Bears Honored by Dist. 3, L-L, and Section 2
Senior defenseman Thane Heller led a group of eight Etown lacrosse students across the stage at the 2010 Central Pennsylvania Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse All-Star Banquet, May 24 at the Lancaster Host Resort. The eight were selected as all stars by the coaches of District 3 and the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
Heller was honored as first team all-section, first team all-league, and first-team Central PA. An aggressive D-pole, Heller has amassed 5 goals, 5 assists, and 128 ground balls, while leading the team in turn-overs caused and penalties.
Senior attack and captain Ganan Keck joined Heller on the Section 2 first team, and was selected as honorable mention all-league. Keck is the program’s all-time scoring leader, with 47 goals (#3 all-time) and 43 assists (#1 all-time). His senior season, Keck has amassed a balanced 24 goals and 23 assists, while netting three game-winners, picking up 31 ground balls, and shooting 39 percent.
The Section 2 second team was heavily staffed with talented Bears laxers, starting with senior captain midfielder David Latimore, who was recognized for the third consecutive year. Latimore has collected 27 goals, 11 assists, and 75 ground balls, while holding an 87-52 record in face offs this season.
Junior Joshua Ginder was recognized for the second straight year, with 31 goals, 10 assists, and 40 ground balls in his third year on varsity. Ginder is second all-time in scoring in the program.
Junior goalie Giordano Pugliese was recognized again this year. Pugliese has saved 60% of the shots he has faced this season, with 201 saves and 138 goals-against.
Senior captain defenseman Phillip Greider was recognized for the first time, also earning second-team honors. Greider has picked up 67 ground balls this season, having been flagged for penalties just 9 times while playing almost every minute of every game. A four-year starter, Greider is a coach on the field for the Bears.
Sophomore defensive middie Thomas Price was recognized for the first time as a Section 2 second teamer. Price has picked up 21 ground balls and assisted two goals this season, and he’s part of a man-down unit that has been scored on just 16 times in 94 opportunities (17 percent).
Junior Brendon Clair finishes the list of Bears earning honors, particularly honorable mention in Section 2. After totaling 14 goals and 4 assists as a sophomore, Clair exploded this season for 23 goals and 21 assists, including three game-winners. Two of his game-winners came in overtime, and a third was scored with just 3.3 seconds on the clock in the district quarterfinals against Carlisle, capping an amazing final 97 seconds in which the Bears scored three goals to come from behind for the win.

Practice Schedule and Bus Time
Practice for the varsity lacrosse team will be from 3-5 p.m. on the turf at Etown College on Thursday and Friday. Students who need care from the athletic trainer should make arrangements to get to the training room immediately after school so that they are not late for practice. Captains should make sure there is water at the field by 3 p.m. Students are responsible for their own transportation to the field.
Bus loading Saturday morning will be at 10:45 a.m. The directions/map to Cumberland Valley’s turf field will be posted on the directions page of the website, which is linked from the site’s home page.
IMPORTANT Lax Banquet Change!!!
The EAHS Lacrosse banquet has been moved from Tuesday May 25, 2010 to Wednesday May 26, 2010.
We apologize for the change – but there is a possibility that we will be participating in a playoff game on Tuesday May 25. We will not know for sure until Saturday. The caterer is willing to be flexible with us – but we have to choose today whether to have the banquet on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. They have staffing and other arrangements that they have to finalize before Saturday.
We know that there exists a conflict on Wednesday night with the underclassmen award ceremony. When the banquet was originally scheduled we tried to avoid all conflicts that we were aware of – unfortunately with the exception of the playoff schedule. We understand that there may be more conflicts with your families’ schedule.
Please contact Louisa Clark at louisac AT comcast DOT net or 475-5337 ASAP to confirm that you will still be attending or if there is any change to your original RSVP.
L-L/District 3 Recognition
Congratulations to David Latimore, Brendan Clair, Tommy Price, Thane Heller, Phillip Greider, Giordano Pugliese, Ganan Keck, and Joshua Ginder for being recognized for their excellent play by the Lancaster-Lebanon League and District 3 lacrosse coaches.
These students have been selected to receive All-Section, All-League, or even All-District awards this season.
The D3 awards night will be Monday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at the Lancaster Host Resort, 2300 Lincoln Highway East (Rte. 30). Cost is $25 per person (includes a nice dinner and guest speakers) for any students or parents who wish to attend. We are running late on getting tickets, so money and R.S.V.P. is due to Coach Adams Thursday morning before school. Checks should be made out to Big E Boosters.
