Fall Frenzy College Showcase at Dickinson 10/31
Current 10th, 11th, and 12th graders interested in checking out the college lacrosse recruiting process should consider attending the Fall Frenzy College Showcase at Dickinson College in Carlisle on 10/31.
For information, please check out the
Showcase information sheet. If you are interested in attending, print out and send the Showcase Registration Form to Dickinson Coach Dave Webster by 10/25.
This is not an Etown Lacrosse activity, nor are the coaches of Etown Lacrosse involved in this. We are just spreading the word for students who are considering participating in college lacrosse. To be recruited, you must be seen by coaches. Showcases, camps, and high-level summer tournaments are typical ways to get noticed.
Please contact Coach Adams with questions.
Parents: Snack Stand Help Wanted!
During the fall ball lacrosse season, a snack stand will be available with all proceeds going directly to the lacrosse program. In order to make this a success, your help is needed and greatly appreciated! You can help in the following ways:
1. There is no electricity available at the fields so in order to have some hot foods available a small generator is needed. If anyone would be willing to donate there generator every Sunday afternoon to plug in a crock-pot and maybe a coffee maker, that would be great.
2. For all you campers out there – a portable gas or propane grill is also needed so we can grill up some hot dogs. If anyone is willing to donate this item on Sundays that would be awesome!
3. Volunteers are needed to work the stand each Sunday from 2:45 – 6:15. We will break up the time in 2 shifts – one from approx. 2:45 – 4:30 and another from 4:30 – 6:15. Only 1 volunteer is needed for each shift.
Please contact Shannon Heisey directly at 368-0418 or shannonheisey AT comcast DOT net if you can help out with this fundraising event. Thanks!
Fallball Begins 9/19 (important info!)
NOTE: The following message relates to the Etown fallball teams, specifically. If you are looking for information about the whole league, please check http://etownlax.com/schedule/fallball-2010.
Etown Fallball Laxers,
Here are the team breakdowns for fallball. If you have any questions about them, discuss with Coach Adams. There is room for some flexibility between the teams, so if you don’t like your placement on EtownB, earn your way up by playing the game the Etown way; and if you’re on EtownA, play the Etown way to keep your spot!

The league schedule is posted at http://etownlax.com/schedule/fallball-2010. The first week, the B team plays at 4 p.m. and the A team plays at 4 and 5 p.m.
Any parents who can help out with the scoring and the penalty time at 4 p.m., there will be three games going at that time and all of our student volunteers will be playing in games at that time.
All student volunteers should arrive at Rheems fields at 2:30 p.m. to set up the fields and discuss the volunteer jobs. Attendance will be kept for volunteers. A schedule will be made for future weeks.
GEARS Volunteers
Students who signed up with Coach Adams to volunteer Wednesday evenings with the GEARS Fiddlesticks program need to arrive at Wednesday, 9/14, at 5:30 p.m. at the field behind the middle school to meet Coach Mike Laverty and get ready for the 6 p.m. start of the Fiddlesticks program.
Please wear lacrosse apparel and bring your lacrosse stick. Show up prepared to get involved, help the little ones learn the sport, and make it fun!
If you have not discussed this with Coach Adams already, this message does not pertain to you. This is different than the fallball volunteering. That schedule will be posted this week. Contact Coach Adams with any questions about these items.

Fallball
Along with Rheems, we are hosting a fallball league again. This year, we are hosting teams in HS, MS, and Jr. divisions. Students are encouraged to both play in the league on the two (maybe three) teams we enter, and to help out as volunteers to run the league. The cost to participate is $40, or free to students who volunteer most weeks. Please indicate on the registration form whether you will be volunteering or just playing. Parents are encouraged to volunteer, too, as this has potential to be a very big fundraiser for our program. Fallball is Sundays, 3-6 p.m., 9/16 to 10/31, at Rheems Elementary.
Students who are participating in fallball must also submit the waiver. Click here to download.
Fall Practices
We are planning to organize one practice each week this fall, stay tuned …
Indoor Lacrosse
We are enrolling two teams at In the Net this winter, for 10v10 full-field lacrosse. The league provides 10 games on Saturdays from early November through late February. In the past, students involved in both hockey and swimming have had very little trouble participating in this activity. Students who volunteer with fallball will pay $120 to participate in indoor lacrosse. Students who do not volunteer with fallball will pay $140 to participate in indoor lacrosse.
Indoor Practices
As usual, we will hold weekly indoor practices in the high school gymnasiums this winter. These are strongly encouraged for students who are participating in the In the Net leagues, but also encouraged for any lacrosse students who want to be on top of their game once we hit the field in March. We work on a lot of skill development and basic team offense and defense concepts.
Program Rules/Policies
Just a reminder of a few of our important rules and policies.
Appearance … a program-supplied reversible jersey is required for all practices and off-season games. Students must also wear black shorts to all practices and off-season games. Team colors only are allowed beneath uniforms.
Helmets … you must provide your own helmet for off-season play. If you wish to wear your own helmet during the season it must match the school’s helmets and it must be NOCSAE certified in 2011 (and bear the NOCSAE 2011 sticker).
In-season attendance … during the spring school lacrosse season, students are expected to put lacrosse above all other sports activities. Please understand that this is a requirement of any successful varsity program.
REMEMBER TO SUBMIT YOUR SIGN-UP SHEET BY FRIDAY, 9/10!!!
EAHS Lax Gathering Reminder
Please remember that this Sunday, September 5, is the day of our annual fall gathering. Please see the early posting at http://etownlax.com/blog/hs-news/fall-gathering-on-sun-95 for details.
Last year, about 70% of the EAHS lacrosse family was present. This year, let’s get closer to 100%. See you Sunday!
