Dear Parents/Guardians:
As a parent of a current student-athlete, we are writing to you as a collective group of varsity coaches to share with you information on an important initiative underway at the school district that will benefit our students and the opportunities they have to take part in interscholastic activities. The Investing in Our Children, Our Community, Our Future Capital Campaign is designed to improve the many athletic fields we use to deliver our programs. As coaches, we are thankful and encouraged by the community support we have seen to date as over $700,000 has been raised toward this project.
Elizabethtown Area School District has a rich and storied history both in the classroom and on the playing fields, courts, and mats. This continues to hold true as the current cast of EASD student-athletes, including your son/daughter, are still exemplifying the characteristics of hard work, sportsmanship, commitment, and leadership that are past student-athletes exhibited during their years at E-town. Amazingly, on any given year we have more than 650 students taking part in at least one sport with total participation exceeding 1,100 students. There are so many studies that cover the many benefits of sports participation but as coaches we are first hand witnesses. Each year we have the opportunity to experience the unbelievable power that athletics can have on our students. That is why we have gathered together as the twenty varsity coaches to write this letter asking for your support. This campaign isn’t just about those sports that will directly benefit from the field improvements or to make us feel good by having turf fields. It is about something greater than that. It’s about our students – current day and those yet to step inside our schools – and providing them with the same opportunities that were provided to those that came before them in a safe and economical manner.
We are just getting started with this campaign and we need your support in order for the school district and its many partners to have the improvements in place by the fall of 2012. As such, we wanted to share the information about this important project with all of our parents/guardians and encourage you to read the attached literature. Continuing to provide these opportunities for our youth is vital and we are 100% certain the Investing in Our Children, Our Community, Our Future Campaign will afford our district that opportunity for years to come. Again, we sincerely ask that you take a moment to read the attached literature and consider making a pledge. As an example, a $1,000 pledge can be paid out over 5 years, or $200 a year.
Sincerely,
